A 1 acre planting with the entire cost of seed totaling less than $20 bucks is pretty inexpensive compared to buying commercial seed food plot clover mixes selling for 5x that amount for basically the same thing. Jumbo Ladino Clover can be purchased at any local large seed supply store or coop and can also be ordered online at various online stores for less than $4 per pound. Like with any new clover planting,(WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BERSEEM CLOVER OR COMMERCIAL DEER MIXES CONTAINING BERSEEM CLOVER) I strongly recommend establishing your Jumbo Ladino white clover plots in the late summer/early fall with a nurse crop consisting of 50-70lbs per acre of winter rye. Normal seeding rates for Jumbo Ladino Clover are 2-4 lbs per acre with a seeding depth of no more than 1/2" with 1/4" depth being ideal.

Jumbo Ladino clover thrives in heavier soils that are fertile, stay relatively moist and grows best in environments that receive adequate amounts of rainfall. Jumbo Ladino is characterized by it's extremely large leaves that can be in excess of 3" wide. Years ago, when most local hunting clubs got together to discuss what to plant for wildlife, the most talked-about plants were oats, wheat, and rye.Today it seems, the discussions have changed when those same local hunters talk about what to plant for their deer and turkey. Jumbo Ladino Clover is a white perennial, long lived clover variety that I always include in my clover plot plantings for whitetail deer because of it's ability to produce a large amount of high protein forage for 8-9 months out of the entire year here in Nebraska.
